Decentraland Halloweeks 2026: Wearable contest 30,000 MANA, $5 publish fee
On October 5, 2026, Decentraland opened Halloweeks 2026, a month-long Halloween season that runs through November 2. The same announce put a Wearable contest on the calendar: a 30,000 MANA prize pool, six themed categories at 5,000 MANA each, and a hard submit cutoff on Friday, October 23 at 12:00 UTC.
If you design Wearables, the practical lever is the temporary $5 publish fee (a $25 list price with a $20 Decentraland Foundation subsidy for six months), then publish early enough for review before the Typeform deadline.
Background
Decentraland is a browser-based virtual world where players explore districts, wear NFT Wearables and Emotes, and trade items through the official Shop and Marketplace. MANA is the franchise token named in contest prizes; creators publish Wearable collections through Decentraland’s creator docs, then surface them to players once review clears.
Halloweeks stretches a single Halloween night into a season: haunted Genesis Plaza from October 5 through November 2, Halloween quests, horror movie nights, community parties, and limited-time rewards. The Wearable contest sits on that calendar so creators can ship spooky looks while the world is already dressed for the theme.
A separate October Decentraland Marketplace security article covers Off-chain order versions and seller relists. Halloweeks is the contest and fee window.
What happened
Halloweeks season and contest calendar
On October 5, 2026, Decentraland published the Halloweeks 2026 blog (opens in new tab) and followed up in the official Decentraland Discord (opens in new tab). The season window is October 5 – November 2, 2026.
Contest timing from the blog:
| Milestone | Date |
|---|---|
| Submissions open | October 6, 2026 |
| Submit deadline | Friday, October 23 at 12:00 UTC |
| Winners announced | October 27, 2026 (ahead of the Severus7 set) |
| Prizes sent | October 28, 2026 to the wallet registered in the Shop |
Pool size is 30,000 MANA total: 5,000 MANA for one winner in each of six categories.
$5 publish fee ($25 list, $20 Foundation subsidy)
For the next six months, Discord and the publication fees docs (opens in new tab) frame the Wearable publish cost as a $25 list fee with $20 covered by the Decentraland Foundation, so creators pay $5 per item (crypto or Marketplace Credits). Docs call the subsidy limited time; Discord says the next six months. Check live fees before assuming the $5 net rate still applies. The blog compresses the same story as “$5 for the next six months, down from $100,” matching an earlier (2023) list fee.
Six categories and judging rubric
Submit a published Wearable through the official Halloweeks contest Typeform (opens in new tab) in one of:
| Category | Theme |
|---|---|
| Slasher | Original designs inspired by classic slasher horror |
| Costume | Fun, clever, nostalgic, or unexpected Halloween costumes |
| Most Cursed | Unsettling, haunted, corrupted, deeply wrong looks |
| Creature Feature | Monsters, beasts, fangs, fur, scales, and more |
| Haunt Couture | Gothic glamour meets high fashion |
| Folklore & Legends | Myths, legends, and creatures from cultures around the world |
Judging weights:
| Criterion | Points |
|---|---|
| Quality & Technical Execution | 25 |
| Originality | 25 |
| Theme Fit | 20 |
| Creativity & Detail | 20 |
| Presentation | 10 |
Publish first, then Typeform
Your Wearable must already be published before you submit the form. Publishing review typically takes 2–3 days, so leave buffer before October 23 at 12:00 UTC. Creators who want a chance at the Halloweeks Shop collection can tag eligible Halloween items halloween2026; only theme-fit items are included.
Season backdrop players will see
Beyond the contest, the blog points players at:
- Haunted Genesis Plaza for the full Halloweeks window
- Cursed Pond fishing October 19 – November 2, with limited-time Halloween rewards that can include a Wearable
- Horror movie nights at the Theatre (showtimes in UTC on the blog)
- Spooky Takeover Tuesday: Severus7 DJ set on October 27 at 20:00 UTC at Genesis Plaza Theatre, with contest winners announced ahead of the set
- Community events over the Halloween weekend (October 30 – November 1)
- The Halloweeks Shop (opens in new tab) section live for the season
Who it affects
Wearable creators
Budget the $5 net publish cost (after the Foundation subsidy on the $25 list fee), publish early enough for the 2–3 day review, then file the Typeform before October 23 at 12:00 UTC. Pick one category that matches the look; one winner per category takes 5,000 MANA. Tag halloween2026 only on items that fit the Halloween Shop theme.
Players and collectors
You do not need to enter the contest to enjoy Halloweeks. Explore haunted Genesis Plaza, shop season Wearables and Emotes, fish Cursed Pond from October 19, and catch movie nights or the October 27 Severus7 set. Prize MANA will go to contest winners’ Shop-registered wallets on October 28 under Decentraland’s rules; treat that as a creator payout schedule, not a player earn loop.

What to watch next
- October 23 at 12:00 UTC: Typeform close; publish buffer for the 2–3 day review
- October 27–28: winners ahead of Severus7 (20:00 UTC), then MANA payouts to Shop-registered wallets
- Fee window: Discord “next six months” / docs “limited time” for the $20 subsidy; check live publication fees (opens in new tab) before assuming the $5 net rate still applies
- Shop tag: halloween2026 on theme-fit items only
Bottom line: Publish your Wearable with review lag in mind, pay the $5 net fee while the Foundation subsidy holds, and submit the Typeform before October 23 at 12:00 UTC if you want a shot at a 5,000 MANA category win.
