Axie Infinity reopens AOC redemption: 275 Origin Axies with Mystic chances
Sky Mavis announced on August 17, 2026 that AOC redemption is returning to App.axie. Holders of Atia Original Crystals (AOC) will soon be able to combine five crystals to mint one new Origin Axie, resuming a mechanic that has been dormant since the game's earliest days. With 1,375 AOC still unrolled across 37 wallets, up to 275 new Origins can enter circulation, each with six parts carrying an independent 7% chance of landing as Mystic.
The announcement completes a loop that started in 2018. For collectors who track Axie rarity, this is the first time the Origin supply can grow since the presale closed.
Background
Origin Axies are the oldest tier of collectibles in Axie Infinity. Their total supply was capped at 4,088 during a presale that ran from February to April 2018. At the time, Sky Mavis ran a referral program: participants who brought new players into the ecosystem earned referral tokens, which later became known as Axie Origin Coins (AOC).
The AOC mechanic worked simply: turn in five tokens, receive one Origin Axie. Each of that Axie's six body parts got its own independent chance at becoming Mystic. Mystic parts are rare because they can only appear during Origin creation, not through standard breeding.
After the presale, the roll went quiet. By 2024, 1,375 AOC remained unrolled on Ethereum. On January 22, 2024, Sky Mavis migrated them to Ronin and renamed them Atia Original Crystals. A public redemption interface did not open at that point. The crystals landed on Ronin but the roll did not return.
What happened
On August 17, 2026, Sky Mavis published the history of AOC on The Lunacian (opens in new tab), the official Axie Infinity Substack, and confirmed that redemption will return soon via App.axie.
The core rules for the upcoming roll match the original mechanic:
- 5 AOC → 1 new Origin Axie
- 6 body parts per Axie (Eyes, Ears, Mouth, Horn, Back, Tail)
- Each part carries an independent 7% chance of being Mystic
- A single Origin can have zero, one, or multiple Mystic parts
The 1,375 crystals on Ronin represent a maximum of 275 new Origins. No exact opening date has been published. Sky Mavis described the window as "coming soon."
Who it affects
Collectors
For the 37 wallets holding AOC today, five eight-year-old crystals are now a direct path to one of Axie Infinity's rarest collectible tiers. The Mystic floor sat near 3.34 ETH at the time of announcement; treat that figure as a one-day snapshot, not a checked floor. Statistically, around 97 of the 275 expected Origins would carry at least one Mystic part, though actual results depend on each individual roll.
Existing Origin and Mystic holders should note the supply context: the 4,088 Origin cap has held since 2018. If all 1,375 crystals are redeemed, Origins would rise from their current count toward that cap, adding up to 275 units with potential Mystic parts that cannot be obtained any other way.
Players
For active Axie Infinity Origins players, new Mystic Axies in circulation may affect competitive rosters over time. Mystic parts carry visual distinction and historical significance but do not provide gameplay bonuses beyond those already associated with Origin Axies. Players interested in acquiring a newly minted Origin at the moment of redemption should watch App.axie for the opening window, since crystals are concentrated in 37 wallets.

What to watch next
- Monitor App.axie for the redemption opening date. Sky Mavis has not specified a window beyond "soon."
- Follow the official Axie Infinity X account (opens in new tab) and The Lunacian Substack (opens in new tab) for the launch announcement.
- After redemption opens, check the Axie marketplace on Ronin (opens in new tab) to see newly minted Origins and track Mystic listings.
- Watch whether Mystic Axies from this batch enter the open market and how that affects floor prices for existing holders.
Bottom line: The AOC roll is returning for the first time since the 2018 presale. If you hold Atia Original Crystals, watch App.axie for the opening date. Each set of five crystals is your only path to a new Origin with Mystic potential.
