Chainers drops its blockchain layer: no minting, Season 6 to Nov 3

On October 8, 2026, 51.games said Chainers removed its blockchain layer: no more minting or grey seeds, with the earning system unchanged. Same-evening studio replies on X call the move "a web2 game with the same earning feature." Season 6 Witching Hour (06 Oct–03 Nov, 12:00 UTC) is live; its opening Witch's Brew double event ends today at 12:00 UTC.

Background

Chainers is a free-to-start farm-and-mini-game hub from 51.games on browser or mobile. Shop and season loops spend CFB in-account; CHU is the broader ecosystem token.

Before the change, Chainers docs⁠ (opens in new tab) described Chainers Chain as a Polygon sidechain based on Polygon Edge, with in-game assets as ERC-721. On October 2, 2026, @ChainersGame⁠ (opens in new tab) said the studio was moving "some of its features away from the blockchain" to cut delays and end grey seeds. What happened

Blockchain layer removed (October 8)

On October 8, 2026, Chainers on X⁠ (opens in new tab) posted "THE DAY OF CHAINERS LIBERATION" and told players to say bye to "BUGCHAIN." The studio frames the change as ending grey seeds and lag, with "Just your game, just the fun!" and "Only buffs" (no nerfs). A free celebration gift is waiting in the in-game shop; contents are not stated. A same-evening follow-up said "We are free, Chainooors…"⁠ (opens in new tab).

What changes, and what stays the same

Under that liberation post, @ChainersGame⁠ (opens in new tab) replies (studio account only) say:

• Blockchain layer removed for stability: "We removed the blockchain layer to improve stability, since it was causing frequent issues."
• No minting / grey seeds: "just no minting"; "no minting or gray seeds, fewer lags"; grey-seed and minting problems "were blocking users from actually playing and earning."
• Earning unchanged: "The earning system stays the same"; "We did not remove earning feature"; "moving to a web2 game with the same earning feature."
• Cards still collectable: "You can still collect cards, etc."
• Hard update: "The blockchain removal is a hard update to do, that's why we had issues with the game after."
• Reward pools: updates for reward pool tiers "and more" are rolling out (details not stated).

What players need to do now

Chainers told players in a Discord update that because the blockchain was removed, the Chainers Wallet is no longer part of the ecosystem. The studio says that has not changed the game itself, but rewards now go through Chainers ID instead of a Wallet address.

Short platform steps:

• Gleam: enter your Chainers ID (some campaigns ask twice so you avoid typos).
• Zealy: complete the Sprint task that asks you to submit your Chainers ID.
• Chainers Guardians: replace your Chainers Wallet with your Chainers ID; the bot is already asking for it.

What Chainers has not said

Chainers has not said what happens to existing ERC-721 items, the Chainers Chain explorer, any marketplace or bridge, or a snapshot/claim path, and has not published a shutdown date for the chain. On October 9, 2026 the explorer front end still loaded while its stats API returned HTTP 502; that is not proof the chain is down or live. First-party docs no longer describe a game-owned Chainers Chain or mint path; the $POL and $BNB lines that remain are withdrawal rails, not a replacement on-chain asset layer.

Docs after the change

As of October 9, 2026:

• Chainers Economics + FAQ⁠ (opens in new tab) (formerly "Chainers Blockchain and Economics + FAQ") no longer carries the Chainers Chain / Polygon Edge / ERC-721 section. Withdrawals are still listed in $POL and $BNB (min 0.016 BNB / 50 POL; up to 7 business days; email OTP; user pays gas).
• Catalog⁠ (opens in new tab) (formerly "NFT Catalog") covers in-game assets, equip, transform/burn cards for $CFB, and selling items.
• Chainers ID⁠ (opens in new tab) replaces the old wallet page: it is not a wallet address; do not transfer $POL or other currencies there.

Some docs pages still mention minting and a postponed/refunded $CHU sale. Treat those lines as stale context until Chainers rewrites them. There is no Medium explainer for the blockchain removal.

Season 6 Witching Hour and Witch's Brew

Season framing: the Light Tree is darkening; Ghosts appear; players brew potions, raise Ghosts, and help the tree transform. New items include Dark Tree Seeds, Spooky Cauldron Seeds, Ghosts, Ghost Food, and product Ectoplasm. Chainers says existing farm items will transform into new ones through crafting for the first time. Golden Pass is $29.99 with 25% off until October 12 at 00:00 UTC, then $39.99 per Medium. Auto Collect is listed up to 90% off.

Witch's Brew⁠ (opens in new tab) is the opening Progression + Mission double event, 06 Oct–09 Oct, 12:00 UTC, and ends today at 12:00 UTC. Bundles discount Spooky Cauldron Seeds (32 at 50% OFF; 16 at 25% OFF). Goal: complete the events for ingredients to craft Legendary Light Tree Seeds, Firebird, and Fiery Barberry Seeds.

Who it affects

Farmers who hit mint delays

If grey seeds or mint waits blocked harvest loops, October 8 is the studio's claim that minting is gone and the blockchain layer is removed for stability. Chainers says earning stays the same and you can still collect cards. Prefer the live client and Economics + FAQ⁠ (opens in new tab) over FAQ pages that still talk about blockchain minting.

Holders of former on-chain items

If you still hold ERC-721 farm assets from before the change, Chainers has not published a claim, migration, or marketplace path.
