Illuvium Arena Update 1.18 patch notes: Lynx path control and weapon reroll
Illuvium published Arena Update 1.18 patch notes on August 26, 2026, on the Illuvium portal (opens in new tab). After deploy, ranked prep gets one more weapon reroll and full Lynx path control; bot matches lose Holo finishes and gain smarter Lynx logic.
Background
Illuvium: Arena is Illuvium’s free-to-start Gauntlet auto-battler on Immutable. You field Illuvials in eight-player free-for-alls. Gauntlet is free-to-start with a roster that does not need NFT ownership. Leviathan is the mode where the Illuvials you own matter: unique stats, boosts, and looks, not only free units. Franchise utility runs through the ILV token.
Update 1.18 is a mid-season integrity and systems patch, not a new mode launch. The portal overview frames three goals: fairer bot matches, full control over your Lynx progression path, and more stable queues and reconnects, plus fresh cosmetics for Gauntlet and Beyond.
What happened
Deploy window (Discord)
On August 26, 2026, Illuvium posted in the official Illuvium Discord (opens in new tab) that Arena Update 1.18 deployment was about to start. The studio said the roll-out could take up to two hours and that Arena might be offline during that window. The announce highlighted smarter bots, more Lynx progression control, an additional weapon reroll, improved Shop reliability, and matchmaking, reconnect, and sync fixes, then pointed players to the full portal patch notes (opens in new tab).
Bot adjustments
From the portal notes (Date Published Aug 26, 2026):
- Bots are no longer eligible for Holo or Dark Holo finishes, so those rare visual tiers stay player-only
- Bot collection levels were adjusted to track natural player progression more closely
- Bot encounters now use natural level variance, so fights read less like a fixed script
Lynx, weapon rerolls, and shop
- Lynx path: you choose any available Lynx class or affinity that a T0 Illuvial has not already selected
- Bot Lynx AI: bots pick valid, strategic Lynx paths so mid-to-late game pressure stays competitive
- Lynx cosmetics: skin handling fixes for consistent visuals across modes
- Weapon rerolls: +1 additional reroll in the preparation phase
- Shop: overhaul for reroll, purchase, and sale reliability; multi-buy and pool-exhaustion fixes; round-end shop refreshes after fusion and accounts for fusion-ready units
- Augment crates: Synergy and Composite crates avoid duplicate or disabled choices and correctly read board and bench synergies
Technical and cosmetics
- Matchmaking queue desync on pending assignments fixed
- Reconnect improved after network drops
- Match completion and results recording fixes
- Bot placement sync, unit rotation after side switch, and spectator bench affinity colors corrected
- Gauntlet board-skin swapping fixed
- Beyond Mode adds Normal and Holo Beyond Wave 5 board skins
- Amplifier card images after refresh and Arena skins during round transitions fixed
Who it affects
Players
If you queue Gauntlet or ranked Arena this week, treat the Discord deploy window as real downtime risk. Check the client and Discord before you lock a practice block.
Prep players get one more weapon reroll and full Lynx path control under the T0 Illuvial rule. That changes how you plan openers and mid-fight pivots when the shop finally behaves.
Bot lobbies should feel fairer on finishes and less scripted on level and Lynx choices. Do not expect bots to flash Holo or Dark Holo anymore.
Shop and crate players who hit multi-buy, pool, or fusion-refresh bugs should re-test those flows on 1.18 before blaming a dead pool on client lag.
Collectors
This patch does not announce a new Illuvials mint. Beyond Wave 5 board skins (Normal and Holo) matter if you track Beyond cosmetics; Gauntlet board-skin swapping is a fix, not a new drop. Verify listings against Illuvials and related franchise pages before pricing utility off social screenshots alone. ILV holders should treat this as a play-stability update, not a tokenomics event.
