Obelisk Rising Closed Alpha Phase 1: applications and raid tests
Illuvium opened Obelisk Rising Closed Alpha Phase 1 applications in August 2026. The invite-only wave is for QA feedback and early 4-player raid sessions on unfinished PC builds. If you want in, submit the official form now: selection is not guaranteed, and builds can wipe or change systems without notice.
Background
Obelisk Rising is Illuvium's creature-collection action RPG / MMO-lite rebuild of the earlier Illuvium: Overworld client. You play as a Ranger, bond Illuvials, craft gear, and push into dungeons and group content. Franchise play sits on Immutable; utility and governance run through the ILV token. Sibling auto-battler Illuvium: Arena stays the live free-to-start title while Obelisk Rising is in closed testing.
Illuvium framed the Overworld → MMO Lite pivot in the December 2024 portal post A New Dawn (opens in new tab). The June 3, 2026 Automated Drone Runs Update (opens in new tab) already treated Obelisk Rising as a forthcoming launch target when it aligned Illuvial drop rates across products. What happened
Phase 1 applications (official form)
In early August 2026, Illuvium pointed Rangers to the Phase 1 apply shortlink link.illuvium.io/ObeliskRisingPhase1 (opens in new tab). That URL opens the Google Form titled Obelisk Rising Testers Squad.
The form intro states:

- Build state: unfinished; expect bugs, wipes, and changing systems
- Access: selection is not guaranteed
Required identity fields include Discord username, Ranger name, email, and a wallet address connected to your Illuvidex (opens in new tab) account. Commitment questions cover weekly hours, short-notice group sessions (24–48h), hardware for Epic PC builds, bug-finding skill, and comfort giving critical product feedback (systems that feel wrong, not only crash bugs).
Two-phase Closed Alpha plan (Discord)
Around the same window, Illuvium posted in the official Illuvium Discord (opens in new tab) that Closed Alpha would roll out in two waves:

4-player raid questions on the form
The form's Raids section states that Obelisk Rising raid tests are 4-player. Sessions may focus on dungeon rooms or a boss fight separately. Applicants answer whether they are comfortable in a group of four, whether they already have friends who will apply, and how often they can join scheduled raid sessions during a playtest window. That is how the studio can seed groups and calendars; it is not a promise that every applicant will see raid content.
Who it affects
Players
If you want Closed Alpha access, fill the Phase 1 form (opens in new tab) with accurate Discord, Ranger, Illuvidex wallet, and availability answers. Plan for unstable builds: progress may wipe, systems may change mid-window, and scheduled raid or stress-test pings can land on short notice.
If you are not selected for Phase 1, stay on the Founder's List (opens in new tab) and watch Discord for Phase 2 or later waves. Do not treat the Founder's List as a guaranteed invite.
Classic Overworld veterans should answer the form's prior-play questions honestly; prior client time helps context, but it does not replace the unfinished-build expectations above.
Collectors
Illuvials holders should treat Phase 1 as a feedback and raid-QA window, not as a confirmed on-chain utility unlock inside the alpha. The form itself flags changing systems. Check live Illuvidex and marketplace rules before pricing Closed Alpha access into NFT floors. ILV holders can follow franchise progress, but this announcement is a playtest gate, not a tokenomics event.
