Obelisk Rising Closed Alpha Phase 1: applications open

Illuvium opened Obelisk Rising Closed Alpha Phase 1 applications through an official Discord announcement and the Illuvium-hosted apply form. The first closed test wave focuses on QA, feedback, and early 4-player raid sessions before a larger Phase 2 invite pool. If you want in, apply now: access is invite-only and selection is not guaranteed.

Obelisk Rising is Illuvium’s current public name for the franchise’s creature-collection action RPG / MMO-lite flagship, the same product line previously marketed as Illuvium: Overworld. Planned play is PC via Epic Games Store.

Background

Illuvium Labs runs several live and in-development products on Immutable, including Arena, Zero, and Beyond. The open-world / MMO-lite pillar shut down its earlier Overworld client during the zkEVM migration (opens in new tab), with a future return framed around a fuller MMO experience.

In late 2024, Illuvium’s A New Dawn (opens in new tab) post described rebuilding that flagship as an MMO Lite rather than shipping an oversized AAA open world on day one. Through 2026, marketing and portal posts have increasingly used the Obelisk Rising brand for that next client. A June 2026 Automated Drone Runs update (opens in new tab) (filed under Overworld news) explicitly framed economy tweaks as preparation for Obelisk Rising’s launch alongside Deathmatch.

The franchise token remains ILV. Creature NFTs stay in the shared Illuvials layer used across Arena and this flagship’s capture loops.

What happened

According to the Illuvium Discord announcement and the live apply form:

Two-phase Closed Alpha

PhaseFocus
Phase 1: Closed Alpha QAFind bugs, improve gameplay, refine player experience before expanding access
Phase 2: Expanded Closed AlphaLarger invite pool after the biggest Phase 1 issues are addressed

Illuvium also pointed Rangers to the Founders List (opens in new tab) for future playtest notices as access widens.

Phase 1 raid testing

Phase 1 includes the first 4-player raid tests. Some sessions emphasize dungeon encounters; others focus on boss fights and coordinated group play. The application asks raid-related questions so the team can build groups and schedule sessions.

Who Illuvium says it will prioritize

When reviewing applications, the team said it will prioritize players who:

  • Have plenty of time to play actively over the coming week
  • Can clearly communicate bugs, balance concerns, and UX feedback
  • Previously participated in Illuvium playtests and provided valuable feedback
  • Plan to create content during Closed Alpha (streams, videos, guides, or write-ups) while labeling the build as Closed Alpha
  • Have helped grow the community by encouraging players to join the waitlist

The announcement invited anyone who ticks most of those boxes to apply.

How to apply

Applications go through the Illuvium form at link.illuvium.io/ObeliskRisingPhase1 (opens in new tab). The form (“Obelisk Rising Testers Squad”) states that builds are unfinished, expects bugs, wipes, and changing systems, and notes that selection is not guaranteed. Fields include Discord username, Ranger name, and a wallet address connected to your Illuvidex (opens in new tab) account, among others.

Illuvium said it would begin reviewing applications shortly and start sending invitations soon. No public invite quota or calendar ship date was attached to that “soon.”

Who it affects

Players

If you want Closed Alpha access, treat this as an application window, not an open download. Expect unfinished systems and possible progress loss. Phase 1 is especially relevant if you can commit time in the near term, write clear feedback, and join scheduled raid tests.

Returning Illuvium Rangers with past playtest history may score higher under the stated criteria, but the form is still open to new applicants who match most of the priority list.

If you are not selected for Phase 1, the Founders List and Discord remain the paths Illuvium highlighted for Phase 2 and later waves.

Collectors

Closed Alpha access does not by itself change Illuvial, Land, or Illuvitar marketplace rules. Treat alpha builds as test clients: do not expect production economy behavior from an unfinished wipe-prone build.

Holders who care about long-term flagship utility should still track how Obelisk Rising reconnects Illuvials capture and progression to the wider Immutable Illuvium stack, without pricing that utility from alpha footage alone.

What to watch next

  • Illuvium Discord announcements for invite waves and Phase 2 expansion (Discord invite (opens in new tab))
  • Whether your application receives an invite; do not assume silence means rejection until the team clarifies windows
  • Patch / wipe notes inside Closed Alpha if you are accepted
  • Portal posts that keep aligning Fuel, Drone Runs, and Illuvial drops with Obelisk Rising (Automated Drone Runs update (opens in new tab))
  • Epic Games Store listing changes when a broader build is announced

Bottom line: If you want Phase 1 access, submit the official form (opens in new tab) while applications are open, join the Founders List (opens in new tab), and plan honest Closed Alpha feedback time. Do not treat an unfinished invite build as a live economy signal for ILV or Illuvials.
