Ronin Proof of Distribution: $40K paid to builders, Honor Score coming later in 2026

Ronin's Proof of Distribution (PoD)⁠ (opens in new tab) program has paid builders more than 780,000 RON (over $40,000) across its first two monthly seasons since launching May 14, 2026. Sky Mavis also outlined Honor Score, a chain-level reputation system arriving later in 2026 that will weight which builders and wallets earn the most from future PoD seasons. Exact score weights are not published yet.

Background

Ronin is a gaming-focused Ethereum L2 built by Sky Mavis. RON is the gas token for every transaction on the chain. When Ronin moved from its earlier staking-emissions model in 2026, new RON rewards shifted to Proof of Distribution: studios and apps earn monthly RON payouts based on real smart-contract activity (transaction count, gas usage, and other onchain signals) rather than passive staking.

PoD makes builder rewards competitive and activity-based. Games with more active players generate more onchain activity and rank higher on the public leaderboard, which also means players browsing the board can discover new titles. Sky Mavis says it wants to expand project pages and community-driven features around that discovery habit.

PoD season payouts (May–July 2026)

BlockchainGamerBiz⁠ (opens in new tab) reported PoD launched May 14, 2026 and was into its third month-long season at time of writing. Points convert into RON at the end of each season.

The Ronin Ecosystem Update⁠ (opens in new tab) (July 10, 2026) adds Season 1 specifics: over 410,000 RON distributed, with Axie Infinity leading at over 97,000 RON. Gas Infinity and Craft World each earned roughly one-third of Axie's Season 1 total. Ragnarok and Pixels also ranked strongly. Sky Mavis noted Sybil-style farming attempts and said it has updated PoD weighting to better reflect real contribution.

Honor Score (later 2026)

The July 10 Ronin blog post describes Honor Score as a unified reputation layer tied to each wallet's history on the chain. Listed inputs:

• Onchain activity across Ronin apps
• Number and variety of applications used
• Asset holdings
• Wallet age and retention patterns
• Network position and ecosystem participation

Its first planned use is to weight PoD: builders and wallets with higher Honor Scores will count for more when monthly RON is distributed, making the program harder to farm with throwaway accounts. Seasonal Honor points are also meant to unlock further benefits over time, though the details are still evolving.

Governance dashboard and treasury (Q3 2026 roadmap)

From the same July 10 post:

• A Governance Dashboard targeting Q3 2026 will let token holders vote on eligible ecosystem initiatives.
• The Ronin treasury is set to receive about 90 million RON from the former staking-reward allocation, pushing holdings above 100 million RON (Ronin cites more than 10% of supply).
• Longer term, Honor-linked users may be able to redeem points for treasury assets at a discount, under rules still to be defined.

Who it affects

Players

PoD RON goes to registered studios, not individual players directly. What you can do now:

• Browse the public PoD leaderboard as a discovery list for the most active Ronin games.
• Play across multiple Ronin apps if you want a stronger Honor profile when the score launches. Wallet age, retention, and multi-app activity are listed inputs.
• Do not expect Honor Score to appear in any game UI before it officially launches later in 2026.

Collectors and RON holders

Asset holdings are one of the listed Honor Score inputs, but weightings are unpublished. PoD itself pays builders, not passive holders. If you hold RON for gas, nothing changes yet. Use the Ronin platform hub and Ronin network page for catalog context; this is not a price forecast.
