The Sandbox WTF? Jam: $4,000 Studio prize pool, submit by Sep 28

On September 21, 2026, The Sandbox opened WTF? Jam, a mobile-first Studio game jam aimed at experiences people want to screen-record and send to friends. Registration and entry run through the Luma event page (opens in new tab). The prize pool is $4,000. Submissions will close September 28, 2026 at 19:00 UTC. Winners will be announced Wednesday, September 30.

Background

The Sandbox Studio is the studio’s AI-assisted creation stack for building playable experiences. In August 2026, Studio Beta shipped Engine 14 and ran a separate Beta Creators Game Jam with a larger prize table (see Studio Beta Engine 14 and the Beta Creators Game Jam). WTF? Jam is a later, shorter jam with a different creative brief: shareability and mobile feel, not the earlier Beta Creators / Engine 14 tooling pitch.

Creator Hub (opens in new tab) is the place for Studio engine notes and tools. Event rules and prizes for WTF? Jam are on Luma and in the official Discord.

What happened

On September 21, 2026, The Sandbox posted in the official The Sandbox Discord (opens in new tab) that WTF? Jam was live for creators. The public event page at luma.com/rlptj0k5 (opens in new tab) lists the challenge, prize split, judging criteria, and registration path.

Challenge and tools

Entries should be shareable by design: something a friend might try once, record, or drop into a group chat. Memes, absurdity, social trends, and chaotic mechanics are in scope if they stay fun rather than harmful. Builds must be mobile-first: one-handed, short sessions, and a loop players understand quickly. Every entry must be created with The Sandbox Studio. Solo builders and teams are both allowed.

Prizes

PlaceAward
1st$1,500 plus $1,000 supporting social ads budget for the winning game
2nd$1,000
3rd$500
Total cash + ads budget$4,000

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 30, per the Luma page.

Judging and guidelines

Judges will weigh four axes:

CriterionWhat Luma asks
WTF factorSurprise, delight, or make people laugh
ShareabilityWould someone screen-record it for a friend? Likes, replies, and reposts feed the panel
Mobile feelOne-handed short bursts; published game playable on mobile; loading screens no longer than 15 seconds
GameplayA fun core loop, even if edges stay rough

Luma says the bar is memorable, not perfect. Hate, harassment, and breaks of The Sandbox community guidelines are out. Entries must be original work, or use assets you have rights to use.

How to enter

  1. Check you can build in The Sandbox Studio (Creator Hub / beta access as The Sandbox requires for your account).
  2. Register on the WTF? Jam Luma page (opens in new tab).
  3. Ship a published, mobile-playable game that fits the brief.
  4. Submit through the same Luma event flow before September 28, 2026, 19:00 UTC.

Check the live Luma form for any upload fields or confirmation screens that sit behind registration.

Who it affects

Studio creators

If you already build in Studio, this is a short window with a clear brief: mobile shareability beats polish. Plan load times under 15 seconds and a loop that reads in a few minutes. Treat the September 28 cutoff as hard unless The Sandbox posts a new official time.

Players and collectors

You are not the entry audience. You are the share target. Winning games may get social-ads support for first place, so watch official Sandbox channels after September 30 for anything the studio promotes. Nothing in the jam rules promises marketplace drops, LAND utility, or token payouts for players.

What to watch next

  • Register and submit on Luma (opens in new tab) before September 28, 19:00 UTC if you plan to enter.
  • Read live judging and guidelines on that same page before you publish a build for mobile.
  • Watch official channels around September 30 for winner names and any social push for first place.
  • Use Creator Hub (opens in new tab) for Studio engine notes while you build.
  • Follow The Sandbox on X (opens in new tab) for mirrors beyond Discord and Luma.

Bottom line: Creators with Studio access should treat September 28 as the hard ship date and optimize for a mobile loop people will actually share. Everyone else can wait for the September 30 announce before expecting playable jam winners in the wild.
