Spellborne: bridge BORNE from Abstract to Avalanche before December 15 as the game heads to full release

Around October 9, 2026, Spellborne told BORNE holders on Abstract to bridge to Avalanche through the in-game bridge before December 15, 2026, when Abstract shuts down. Monster NFTs are not required to be bridged for the next build. The studio also said its next major version will move the game from beta to full release, with no date yet.

Background

Spellborne is Mon Studios’ monster-collector RPG, playable in browser and on mobile, with the BORNE utility token and Spellborne Monsters on Avalanche and Abstract in the catalog.

On October 6, 2026, Abstract announced a full L2 wind-down with a December 15, 2026 shutdown date (Abstract winding down: migrate assets before December 15 2026). That piece noted catalog titles on Abstract still need each studio’s own notices for inventory and claim paths. This Discord post is Spellborne’s studio notice.

BORNE launched on Avalanche C-Chain on August 29, 2025 (Spellborne on X (opens in new tab)) and expanded to Abstract on September 30, 2025, with an in-game BORNE bridge the same day (Abstract expansion (opens in new tab); in-game bridge (opens in new tab)). Spellborne’s economy docs still describe BORNE as the utility backbone of the game (Economy overview (opens in new tab)); those pages do not cover this wind-down.

What happened

Bridge BORNE off Abstract before December 15

Around October 9, 2026, Spellborne posted in the official Spellborne Discord (opens in new tab) that Abstract will shut down on December 15, 2026, and that assets left on Abstract after that date may become inaccessible. For assets on Abstract in general, the studio pointed players to Abstract’s Migration Hub (opens in new tab) and Native Bridge (opens in new tab).

For BORNE on Abstract, Spellborne’s instruction is different and specific: holders must bridge those tokens before December 15, 2026, using the in-game bridge. Path: open the wallet UI → Bridge → set wallet as Abstract or Metamask → source chain Abstract → target chain Avalanche. Do not treat Abstract’s hub or third-party bridges as the Spellborne path for BORNE.

The studio asked players not to wait until after shutdown, because assets remaining on Abstract may become inaccessible once the chain shuts down. As of October 9, 2026, there was no matching first-party post on Spellborne’s official X, @spellborne (opens in new tab).

Monster NFTs: no bridge required for the next build

Spellborne said Monster NFTs are not required to be bridged for the next build. Players may bridge them to Avalanche in the game now, but that is not needed. The next build will be able to detect your monsters off-chain.

That is the full statement. Spellborne did not say Abstract-held Monster NFTs stay tradable or usable after December 15, and it did not describe a migration, snapshot, or re-mint. Studio docs still say monsters must be minted into NFTs to trade and point players to the in-game marketplace for cross-chain transfers (Monsters docs (opens in new tab)); use those pages for what monsters are, not as wind-down exit guidance.

Liquidity leaving Abstract

Liquidity on Abstract is being removed and will be reallocated toward supporting Spellborne on future chains. Spellborne did not name those chains, pools, DEXes, or amounts. Avalanche is only the stated BORNE bridge target in this post, not a named liquidity destination.

Next major version: beta to full release

The team said it has been working on the next major version of Spellborne, which will mark the transition from beta into the game’s full release. Focus areas named in the Discord post:

  • A stronger and more sustainable economy
  • Around 6 hours of single-player content
  • Post-story events and worlds for ongoing content
  • Major improvements to Guilds
  • Better performance and stability (game rewritten from scratch)
  • A clearer experience for new and returning players

No full-release date was given. The current version will remain playable until the new release goes live, so there is no immediate change to the live game from this notice alone. Spellborne also apologised for a recent lack of communication and closed with “More soon.”

Sibling Abstract-game context

Onchain Heroes posted its own Abstract wind-down response on October 8, 2026 (assets safe for now, Marbles retired, Expedition Pass refunds): Onchain Heroes retires Marbles as Abstract winds down. There is no first-party link between the two studios’ plans beyond both games listing Abstract.

Who it affects

BORNE holders on Abstract

Use Spellborne’s in-game bridge to move BORNE to Avalanche before December 15, 2026. Do not leave Abstract-held BORNE until after shutdown. Abstract’s generic Migration Hub and Native Bridge are for other Abstract assets; Spellborne said BORNE holders must use the in-game path.

Players with Monster NFTs on Abstract

No bridge is required for the next build. Bridging to Avalanche in-game now is optional. Spellborne has not said what happens to Abstract-held Monster NFTs after December 15.

Players still on the current build

The live version stays playable until the full release ships. There is no stated downtime or shutdown of the current client tied to December 15.

Collectors and traders

Watch Avalanche-side BORNE and Monster inventory paths. Liquidity is leaving Abstract; Spellborne named only unnamed “future chains,” with no pools, amounts, or trade instructions in this notice.

What to watch next

  • Whether Spellborne posts the same bridge and release notes on @spellborne (opens in new tab) or updates docs.spellborne.gg (opens in new tab)
  • Full-release date and which “future chains” receive liquidity support
  • Any later clarification on Abstract-held Monster NFTs after December 15, and on AGW-login accounts after Abstract shuts down
  • Live in-game Bridge UI before the December 15 deadline

Bottom line: If you hold BORNE on Abstract, open Spellborne’s in-game Bridge and move it to Avalanche before December 15, 2026. Monster NFTs do not need a bridge for the next build under today’s wording, but Abstract’s shutdown still applies to anything left on that chain. Keep watching Spellborne channels for a full-release date and any follow-up on monsters after the L2 closes.
