The Beacon: TGE and marketplace on hold while the studio finishes the game

Skillcap Inc. will shrink the studio to a minimum crew and put the token generation event (TGE) on hold so remaining resources go to finishing The Beacon. On August 14, 2026, The Path Forward went up in the game's official Discord, signed The Beacon Team. Marketplace work and other non-core operations remain on hold, with no concrete timeline. The post says the game is not shutting down. If you play or hold NFTs, treat any TGE date as unset. The same applies if you track BCN.

Background

The Beacon is a free-to-play pixel-art roguelite action RPG from Skillcap Inc. Play runs in the browser and on PC. Assets sit on Arbitrum; keep ETH for gas when you import cosmetics or trade. BCN is the seasonal ecosystem currency under live studio rules. The Season 1 disclaimer (opens in new tab) states Skillcap does not issue or sell a token. It also says Skillcap does not guarantee one. There is no verified live BCN ERC-20 deposit or withdraw path.

Season 1, Goblin's Gambit, closed June 18, 2026. The Season 1 final stretch article covered Bonus Pool depletion and the Glint Base Pool window. It also covered the Writ of Passage snapshot. After that close, TGE timing was already TBD while the studio assessed funding and partnerships. This Discord post is the follow-up: TGE is on hold until that show-and-path gate.

Optional NFT layers include Founding Characters and Pets. Writ of Passage is the Season 1 holder questline NFT. Those collections are on Arbitrum. They do not gate the free dungeon loop.

What happened

The post titled The Path Forward, signed The Beacon Team, went up in the official The Beacon Discord (opens in new tab).

No matching post appeared on The Beacon on X (opens in new tab), the The Beacon site (opens in new tab), or the Season 1 GitBook (opens in new tab) at the time of writing.

Funding and scope

Over recent months the team said it tried every avenue to secure resources to finish the game. It also wanted to build the envisioned ecosystem and launch a healthy token. It could not secure the funding to do those together in an unfavorable market.

Cost cuts and focus

The company will greatly reduce costs. Build pace will be slower during this period. The team will be reduced to its bare minimum. Non-essential operations will cease. Remaining work focuses entirely on finishing the game.

What stays on hold

TGE remains on hold. Marketplace work remains on hold. Other non-core operations also pause while remaining resources go to development. The studio will not announce a new roadmap until the game reaches a point where it has something meaningful to show and a clearer path forward. The same gate applies to a TGE date. There is no concrete timeline for when that will be.

What the post rules out

The Beacon is not shutting down. Scope is reduced so remaining resources go toward development. The path they state is delivering a great game together with more favorable market conditions.

The post does not name headcount or remaining cash. It does not name people who left. It does not set a TGE date or a Season 2 date. It does not name a marketplace host or a listing. It does not change tokenomics. It does not say the in-game client is offline.

Who it affects

Players

Expect a slower content cadence while the remaining crew works on the game. The post does not say the in-game client is offline. Do not expect a new public roadmap until they say that show-and-path gate is met.

Season 1 is already over. This post does not republish chest tables or Glint stages. It does not restate carry-over rules. If you still log in, treat live client rules as the current loop. The Season 1 GitBook (opens in new tab) may lag Discord.

Collectors and BCN holders

BCN. Treat earned balances as seasonal rewards under live studio carry rules. This post does not list BCN on an exchange and does not open a claim contract. Do not treat social TGE rumors as a date. Skillcap still does not issue or sell the token.

NFTs. Writ of Passage, Founding Characters, and Pets stay on Arbitrum. The post pauses "marketplace" without naming a host. That does not, by itself, remove existing secondary listings on marketplaces such as OpenSea. Check collection pages and live marketplace rules before you trade. Do not price utility from a TGE that has no date.

Writ Season 1 upgrade quests already had a June 18 snapshot in the prior article. This post does not add a new snapshot date.

What to watch next

  • The Beacon Discord (opens in new tab) for the next studio post.
  • Roadmap and TGE date: do not expect either until they say that show-and-path gate is met. There is no calendar to mark.
  • GitBook lag: the Season 1 GitBook (opens in new tab) still describes Goblin's Gambit pools and shop flows. Treat Discord as faster than docs while the studio is cut to a minimum.
  • Public mirrors: The Beacon on X (opens in new tab) and the The Beacon site (opens in new tab) had no matching Path Forward post at write time. A later mirror would not, by itself, create a TGE date.
  • BCN claim or listing chatter: ignore unofficial claim sites and exchange rumors until Skillcap or a named token issuer publishes a verified contract path.

Bottom line: Watch the The Beacon Discord (opens in new tab) for the next studio post. Do not treat unofficial TGE chatter or listing rumors as a launch date. A GitBook page that still describes Season 1 pools is not a TGE calendar either.
