Tollan Universe update: Loot Pass and 85% Crown pools
Foretold Studios shipped a Tollan Universe update on September 18, 2026: Loot Pass and Champions' Arena went live together with new Casual and Competitive modes. The same post raised Crown recycling into the Weekly Pool and Jackpot to 85%, and both modes carry ETH and Crown prize pools on Abstract. If you grind for Abstract Stamps or pool shares, the pass price, Casual Credits, and the 15-wave Arena gate now sit in the middle of the loop.
Background
Tollan Universe is a free-to-start wave survivors / bullet-heaven roguelite from Foretold Studios. You clear enemy waves, pick elemental powers, and chase run scores. Play sits on Abstract; catalog platforms are browser and PC. Crowns are the spend currency that feeds weekly ETH-linked prize pools. Abstract Stamps are the ecosystem points you earn from runs.
Before this patch, play leaned on free Practice-style loops for stamps plus seasonal / Powerboard competition. Monetization had already shifted across seasons (Gold Pass, then VIP Pass and Hunter's Badge). Genesis Avatar holders still sit in the VIP-perk lane via Genesis Avatars. Crowns, VIP Passes, and related spendables trade as Tollan Universe Items.
CryptoGames coverage (opens in new tab) notes that older documentation put 50% of Crown spend into the weekly prize pool and 25% into the Jackpot (75% combined). The September 18 post announces 85% without spelling out the new Weekly-vs-Jackpot split. Prefer the live client over a Purchases page that may still list VIP Pass and Hunter's Badge without a Loot Pass row.
What happened
Live on September 18: Loot Pass and Champions' Arena
On September 18, 2026, the official @TollanUniverse (opens in new tab) account posted that Loot Pass and Champions' Arena are live, with a matching amplify in the official Tollan Discord (opens in new tab). The root status (opens in new tab) frames four player-facing changes:
- Loot Pass as a more efficient path to Abstract Stamps
- New Competitive and Casual modes with ETH and Crown prize pools
- 85% of Crowns funding the Weekly Pool and Jackpot
- Champions' Arena entry after clearing 15 Waves
CryptoGames coverage (opens in new tab) restates the same live window and the 85% pool figure.
Casual Mode and Loot Pass pricing
Replies under the same X status spell out Casual Mode:
- Entry costs Casual Credits
- Runs can earn Stamps and Crown Jackpots
- The Casual Peak Run leaderboard pays Crown prizes, and competing for those prizes needs the Loot Pass
Loot Pass benefits in those replies:
- Earn Stamps twice as fast
- Unlock Crown rewards in Casual Mode
- Up to 45 Casual Credits per week
- Unlock exclusive Competitive Mode missions
- Starts from about $5 per week
Treat the dollar floor as the studio's posted starting point; check the live shop for the current weekly price.
Competitive Mode and Crown recycling
Competitive Mode spends Crowns to compete for a share of a Weekly Prize pool, with a chance at Jackpots. Those replies repeat that 85% of Crowns used for entry fund the Weekly Pool and Jackpot. They also call the Competitive weekly prize pool fully distributional: your share tracks Powerboard Points, not a flat winner-take-all board.
Champions' Arena and balance pass
Champions' Arena is available in both Casual and Competitive after you clear 15 Waves. Inside the Arena you fight powerful Champions and their minions for bonus points that improve Run Score.
The same status thread lists supporting balance and QoL changes:
| Change | Detail |
|---|---|
| Max run length | Cut to about 15 minutes for more dynamic runs |
| Maximum Evolutions | Raised to 2 |
| Shrines | Fewer Keys required to activate |
| Encampments | Less durable |
| Gone Fishing | 50% chance to drop a Fish |
| Towers / Encampments | Disabled after they are destroyed |
| Teleportation | New VFX; players are invulnerable during teleport |
Who it affects
Players
If you mainly farm Abstract Stamps, Loot Pass is the direct efficiency lever (2× stamps, Casual Credits, Casual Peak Run eligibility). Casual Credits gate Casual Mode itself, so free Practice-style play and paid Casual loops are no longer the same path.
If you buy or earn Crowns for Competitive entry, the 85% recycle into Weekly Pool and Jackpot is the economy change that matters this week. Your Competitive share follows Powerboard Points under the distributional weekly pool framing. Plan Crown spend against live pool growth, not last week's posted totals alone.
Champions' Arena is a mid-run skill gate: clear 15 Waves, then decide whether the bonus Run Score is worth the Champion fight inside your shorter ~15-minute run budget.
Collectors
Genesis Avatar holders should still check live VIP / holder perks against the new Loot Pass shop, not assume free Loot Pass access from avatar ownership alone. Crown stacks and older VIP Pass / Hunter's Badge inventory live under Tollan Universe Items. Prefer the client purchase UI over marketplace screenshots when pricing weekly pass utility.
