Crossmint Onramp: Apple Pay and cards in 160+ countries

Crossmint launched its own Onramp across more than 160 countries on September 2, 2026. When a game, mint, or wallet app embeds that flow, you can buy stablecoins with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card without leaving the client to visit a separate exchange.

Background

An onramp turns fiat (bank cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay) into crypto you can spend in a wallet. Many Web3 games and NFT mints lose players here: a new player must open another site, pass a long KYC queue, then return with funded tokens. Drop-off at that first funding step is the problem Crossmint targets.

Crossmint is infrastructure: Checkout, Onramp, and mint APIs that studios and apps ship inside their own clients. Players pay or claim only inside partner titles. The company also sells embedded wallets, stablecoin orchestration, offramps, and cards as one stack. This launch is Crossmint’s in-app fiat-to-wallet step.

Crossmint positions the product for fintechs and consumer apps as much as for crypto-native studios. The player angle stays the same: if the title you open uses Crossmint for wallet funding, the buy flow can stay in-app instead of bouncing you to a third-party exchange.

What happened

September 2 global Onramp launch

On September 2, 2026, Crossmint announced via PR Newswire (opens in new tab) that it launched its own onramp in more than 160 countries. The release says partners can offer wallet funding with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or cards through one integration, with the flow staying inside the app.

Co-Founder Rodri Fernández Touza told PR Newswire that a new user’s first act in a finance app is putting money in, and that failed funding loses customers. He said every fintech Crossmint spoke to reported that onramps do not work as well as they should.

Embed UI or headless APIs

Developers can embed Crossmint UI components or build a headless experience with the APIs, component by component, per the same release. Crossmint Onramp overview docs (opens in new tab) describe a white-labeled, in-app path to buy stablecoins, with plug-and-play SDKs that cover payment processing, compliance, and chargebacks.

Docs list React, React Native, Flutter, Swift, and Kotlin embed paths for staging (self-serve) and note that production access needs a signed order form and KYB verification. Headless API builds are available for teams that want custom components.

Risk-based identity and one-session funding

Identity verification is risk-based and calibrated to requirements in each market, with the goal that a user can complete funding in one session (PR Newswire (opens in new tab)). Docs add lightweight KYC up to $1,000 for faster onboarding, supported payments of debit and credit cards plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, and bank transfers coming soon.

Standard transaction limits in docs are $2,000 per user per day, resetting at midnight US Eastern. Higher limits go through sales.

Licenses, compliance, and chargebacks

Crossmint’s European entity is authorized as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider under MiCA and as a Payment Institution under PSD2. Outside the European Economic Area, onramps run through a Crossmint entity with local authorization or a licensed local partner (PR Newswire (opens in new tab)).

Crossmint handles KYC, sanctions and AML screening, wallet screening, and Travel Rule obligations. On card transactions, it manages disputes and assumes chargeback liability. That package is how the company sells itself as a single counterparty across the money-movement stack.

Customer footprint (fintech names)

Crossmint says it serves more than 40,000 enterprises and developers, and names MoneyGram, Wirex, and Tala among customers (PR Newswire (opens in new tab)). Those names show remittance and consumer-finance scale, not Web3 game studios already shipping this Onramp.

Who it affects

Players

If a game or wallet app you use embeds Crossmint Onramp, you may fund a play wallet with a card or mobile wallet without opening a separate exchange. Check the live in-app buy screen for supported countries, payment methods, and KYC depth. Limits and light-KYC thresholds follow the partner’s Crossmint configuration, not a universal free pass.

Funding stablecoins still does not buy you in-game items by itself. Soft currencies, season passes, and shop SKUs stay under each title’s own rules.

Collectors and mint buyers

Mint and checkout flows that already use Crossmint Checkout or mint APIs can add this Onramp so buyers pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or cards before mint settles. Check the mint page’s live payment UI and identity steps before you treat a social teaser as funded. Collection utility and secondary trading still follow the game and marketplace rules after the buy.

Studios and app builders

If you ship a Web3 game or NFT client and want fiat funding inside the product, this is an integration decision: embed components or go headless, complete KYB for production, and map country coverage with Crossmint sales. Staging is self-serve per docs. Named PR customers are fintech-led; your own partnership terms are separate.

What to watch next

Bottom line: Before you buy stablecoins for a mint or play session, open the live in-app funding screen and check country support, payment method, and KYC steps. Treat Crossmint Onramp as an embedded rail when the partner ships it, not as a global exchange you can open on your own.
