Sunflower Land Chapter 16: Cave Dwellers is live
Sunflower Land Chapter 16: Cave Dwellers is live as of November 2, 2026, 00:00 UTC. Reach Level 11 on the island Petal Paradise and you can build the Cave from the Workbench. The chapter runs through February 1, 2027, 00:00 UTC.
Background
Chapters are roughly quarterly content windows. An October 22 preview covered this chapter before launch. Ascension Age, Chapter 15, ended when Cave Dwellers opened.
What happened
The Chapter 16: Cave Dwellers (opens in new tab) page covers the Cave, the Pigpen, and Beetle feeding. v2.28.91 (opens in new tab) shipped the launch flags on October 30, 2026, and those systems opened to everyone when the chapter switched on. v2.28.65 (opens in new tab) opened them to Beta Pass holders from October 20, 2026.
The Cave
Inside, a Myco Bin fills a buried 5x5 patch. Start a batch with one of three mixes:
- Mushroom mix (Wood): more Mushroom tiles
- Beetle mix (Eggs): more Beetle tiles
- Mud mix (one crop of your choice): double Mud from every Mud tile
After 12 hours the patch is ready to dig. A Sand Shovel digs one tile. A Sand Drill clears a 2x2 square. Each tile you dig shows a number: how many Beetles and Mushrooms sit in the tiles directly above, below, left, and right of it, not diagonally.
Your first batch is a 10-minute Mushroom mix that Gloomwick, the Goblin Cave Merchant, walks you through. Patches give Mud, Wild Mushrooms, the occasional Magic Mushroom, and Beetles in four rarities: Green, Blue, Pink, and Amber.
Cave tiers
Expand the Cave through 8 tiers, from Desert to Marble. Each tier adds another Myco Bin and needs a further island. Higher tiers ask for more Mud, Wood, and Stone, plus Leather and Pig Bristles later.
Pigs and the Pigpen
From Level 30 on Petal Paradise, build a Pigpen. It comes with 3 Pigs and costs Mud. Pigs eat Slops mixed from crops, fruit, fish, and mushrooms in four tiers: Basic, Hearty, Rich, and Gourmet. Their preferred Slop changes as they level up.
Truffles are the Pig's produce, with more Truffles at higher levels. Coat a Pig in 25 Mud for a mud bath and it gains +25% feeding XP until its next Truffle collection. Pig Bristles come when you trade in a Pig of level 3 or above, or sell a Pig to the Bounty Board.
Truffles go into Truffle Seasoning at the Spice Rack. You can feed that seasoning to any animal to halve its next sleep. Truffles also go into three dishes: Ember-Roasted Truffle Potatoes, Truffle Cake, and Creamy Truffle Risotto.
Beetle feeding
Any animal can eat a Beetle. Rarer Beetles give more XP.
Cave skill tree
An 11-skill Cave skill tree (opens in new tab) ships with the chapter. The skills cover faster batches, fewer ingredients, extra Mushroom and Beetle tiles, keeping shovels and drills, and better Beetle rarity odds.
Gloomwick
Gloomwick (opens in new tab) comes by every few days and stays for 48 hours. Each visit he brings rotating bulk trades. Higher Cave tiers unlock more of his offers.
Duende Cap
Complete deliveries, chores, and bounties to earn Duende Caps and climb the chapter's reward track. The chapter ticket, called Beetle Wing during development, launched (opens in new tab) as Duende Cap. Wear the Duende Shoes, Duende Pants, or Duende Shirt to earn bonus Duende Caps.
Track boosts include the Pig Onesie (+5% feeding XP for all animals, not counting Beetles) and the Ascension Staff, a power-skill cooldown boost.
Chapter mutants and fish
Chapter mutants are Mushroom Chicken, Ladybug Cow, Beetle Sheep, and the Cyclops Bloom flower. Chapter fish are Betta, Macropinna, and the Manatee, this chapter's marvel fish (a named chapter catch). The Clover Coin artifact can be found by digging in the Desert. This chapter includes the Duende Monument and the Pig Plush and Pig Doll from the Crafting Box. Megastore items, auction drops, and raffle prizes arrive in a new wave.
Auction House
The Chapter Quest (opens in new tab) docs say the Auction House usually opens about eight weeks into a chapter and runs for one week.
Marketplace
Beetles, Pig Bristles, and Truffles can be traded on the in-game Marketplace.
Cave and Pigpen on the farm
The Cave and the Pigpen are permanent additions to the farm.
