Axie Infinity Vibeathon live: AI game jam for 20,000 bAXS
Sky Mavis opened the Axie Vibeathon on September 1, 2026. The two-round online build event asks individual creators to ship a playable Axie Core game with AI-assisted tooling, then compete for a 20,000 bAXS community prize pool. Registration closes September 7. Strong entries can surface in the official gallery; up to eight finalists advance to a production round in October.
Background
Axie Infinity runs on Ronin, Sky Mavis's gaming chain. Axie Core is the shared franchise layer that ties Origins, Homeland-style loops, and collectible axies together. bAXS is bonded AXS, the franchise token used across those loops (see Sky Mavis's Bonded AXS guide (opens in new tab)).
The Vibeathon is the first public edition of that builder push. Sky Mavis frames it as a Lunacian-community pilot to test tools, format, and the path from idea to a hosted Axie game before wider editions.
What happened
On September 1, 2026, Sky Mavis published The Axie Vibeathon is LIVE! (opens in new tab) on The Lunacian and opened registration at vibeathon.axieinfinity.ai (opens in new tab). The studio also broadcast the launch in the official Axie Discord (opens in new tab).
How to join
- Register with a Sky Mavis Account at the Vibeathon portal (one entry per builder).
- Build and host a playable game on hosting you control.
- Submit your best version with title, pitch, descriptions, thumbnail, playable link, controls, optional repo link, fallback demo video, AI tools used, and how the game fits Axie Core.
- Finalize before the Round 1 deadline. The portal shows an on-screen receipt; you may submit a newer build before the cutoff, and the latest valid entry counts.
Approved games can appear in the public gallery. Finalists are contacted directly after Round 1.
Prizes and pathways
| Award | Detail |
|---|---|
| Community pool | 20,000 bAXS shared across winners, finalists, and standout prototypes |
| Round 2 AI support | 250 USDC per finalist (up to eight builders) for AI tooling |
| Promising Prototype | 500 bAXS Round 1 bonus for a strong entry that does not reach Round 2 (recognition only) |
| Beyond prizes | Winning ideas may become standalone Axie games or approved ecosystem integrations, with a chance to keep building alongside Sky Mavis |
Sky Mavis states that no winner, finalist, or recognized prototype is automatically entitled to a production pathway. Treat prize copy and studio outreach as separate from a guaranteed ship slot.
Round 1 judging (weighted)
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Axie Core fit | 35% |
| Gameplay | 25% |
| Product vision | 20% |
| Feasibility | 10% |
| Prototype and documentation quality | 10% |
Each valid entry passes eligibility and safety screening, then receives three independent judge scores. Up to eight finalists advance only if they meet approved quality, eligibility, and safety requirements.
Build support from day one
Sky Mavis points builders to:
- A Get Started guide (idea selection through playtest and submit)
- The Builder Resource Kit (ready-to-use Axie assets, Origins Battle Kit, engine guides, Sky Mavis API setup, optional advanced tools)
- Vibeathon channels in the Axie Discord (opens in new tab) for questions
The blog notes a Three.js Axie Mixer beta but recommends ready-to-use 3D models for first prototypes when the mixer misbehaves.
You do not need to be a professional programmer to enter. The event assumes AI coding tools can help turn a clear concept into something playable; pick engines and helpers that match your idea.
Who it affects
Builders and hobbyist developers
If you want to prototype an Axie-facing game, this is the official window. Register before September 7, host your own build, and treat Round 1 (September 8–21) as the hard prototype deadline. Finalists get USDC AI support and a full October production sprint.
Axie players
You are not the primary audience for registration, but you are the downstream audience for outcomes. Gallery entries and November demos are the earliest public look at what Axie Core might host next. Nothing in the rules promises that your favorite prototype becomes a live Ronin title.
Collectors and bAXS holders
Prizes pay from a 20,000 bAXS community pool, not a personal wallet top-up. bAXS remains bonded AXS inside Axie loops; prize mechanics and any unlock rules should be read from live Vibeathon terms at signup, not assumed from this overview.

What to watch next
- Register at vibeathon.axieinfinity.ai (opens in new tab) before September 7 if you plan to build.
- Round 1 submissions lock in September 8–21; finalize the newest valid build before that window closes.
- Watch the official gallery after approvals for playable links you can try without building.
- Follow The Lunacian (opens in new tab) and Axie Infinity on X (opens in new tab) for finalist names on September 29 and winner reveals on November 5.
- Read live Vibeathon terms for bAXS payout and eligibility before counting on prize economics.
Bottom line: Builders should register this week and ship a hosted Axie Core prototype by September 21. Players should treat the gallery and November demos as early signals, not a release calendar, until Sky Mavis names concrete integrations.
