Critters Quest Live update: resource order book replaces Swap and Meteora pools

On September 25, 2026, Paradice said in the official Critters Quest Discord (opens in new tab) that resource Swap and 117 Meteora pools are gone in favor of an in-game order book priced in QUEST. If you farm wood, stone, ore, and herbs into your town bank, you sell and buy through Sell now, Buy now, or Set my price without moving those resources through a wallet.

Background

Critters Quest is Paradice Tech’s browser 4X on Solana. Gathered materials sit in your town bank and vault; QUEST is the in-game spend and trade currency. Our August mainnet piece covered launch access, Critter NFT wallets, and the Lucky Pick mine at mine.critters.quest (opens in new tab).

Before this change, the pre-mine page (opens in new tab) described 100 million QUEST seeded across 117 resource markets, with players swapping gathered resources into QUEST through Meteora DLMM pools. The in-game Swap UI offered instant exchanges inside the town bank. GitBook still documents that Swap flow and a separate player Marketplace for gear listings; treat those pages as background until Paradice refreshes them for the order book.

What happened

Swap and pools removed

In the September 25 Discord post, Paradice said the resource Swap and the 117 Meteora pools are gone. Every resource now trades on an in-game order book against QUEST.

98.9 million QUEST that had been in those pools now backs the book, per the same announcement. The post did not list individual pool contract addresses.

Town bank only

Trading is town to town: you buy from your town bank and sell into it. Resources move vault to vault. Nothing in this flow touches a player wallet, so the daily withdrawal limit and raid rules apply exactly as before.

One-button flow vs resting orders

Players pick a resource, enter an amount, and press Sell now or Buy now to fill at the best prices on the book in one transaction. Set my price posts a resting sell offer or buy order that waits for a match.

House liquidity and player priority

A team-owned town keeps every resource liquid, Paradice said. That house posts a buy ladder eight levels below each resource’s old pool price down to the old pool floor, with more QUEST at the bottom, so Sell now always has a price. What the house buys, it resells on a ladder above the anchor, thin near the anchor and deeper higher up, so a resource players want gets more expensive as it is bought.

Players can post better prices than the house on either side, and player prices fill first. The studio said the Marketplace town cannot be attacked (player towns remain raid targets under the rules below).

Fees burn by bank level

A cut of QUEST burns on every fill:

Bank levelBurn on fill
110%
Each level up0.5% less
153%

Trading with the house uses your bank level. Trading with another player uses the lower of the two bank levels.

Raids, display, and safety

Orders do not escrow balances. Your QUEST stays in your bank and resources stay in your vault, raidable as always. The book only shows what an order’s bank or vault can cover.

Paradice listed safety rules in the same post:

  • Every order and fill needs a wallet signature, not a session key.
  • A fill cannot pay more than the bank holds or deliver more than the vault holds.
  • The market has an on-chain off switch, and cancels work even when the market is off.

Who it affects

Players

Gatherers should relearn pricing: pool slippage and Swap buttons are replaced by book depth, house ladders, and optional resting orders. Raiders and defenders still care about vault and bank contents because open orders do not hide QUEST or materials from raids.

Bank level now doubles as a fee burn knob. If you trade often with lower-level towns, expect the lower level to set the burn rate on player-to-player fills.

Plan for a wallet signature on each action in browser play at game.critters.quest (opens in new tab).

Collectors

Critter NFT access and secondary sales on Magic Eden are unchanged by this order-book update. QUEST still flows from gathering and spending inside towns; this update changes how resources convert to QUEST, not how Master or Clone listings work.

QUEST holders

The announcement moves 98.9M QUEST from pool liquidity into book backing and adds per-fill burns tied to bank level. That is an in-game economy rule change, not a price forecast. Check The Auditor (opens in new tab) if you track supply reads, and avoid treating burn rates as investment signals.

Bottom line: Open the resource market in your town, try a small Sell now fill, and confirm your bank level before you post wide Set my price orders. Keep raid timers in mind: resting orders do not move QUEST or materials out of reach.
