Introduction

Might and Magic: Fates is a free-to-play trading card game (TCG) developed by Ubisoft in partnership with Immutable, set in the classic Might and Magic universe. Announced on April 23, 2025 and launched globally on February 4, 2026, the game is available on iOS, Android, and Steam (PC). It is a hero-led, turn-based title: players command heroes, summon creatures, cast spells, and build tactical structures while collecting hundreds of cards to create unique decks. Victory is designed to be earned through skill and strategic decisions, not spending; Web3 features (cards as NFTs, trading on an external marketplace) are optional and provide no competitive advantage.

Gameplay and features

Gameplay revolves around heroes, creatures, spells, and artifacts in turn-based tactical combat, with strong emphasis on positioning and timing.

Core systems:

  • Factions and playstyles: Faction-based playstyles with hundreds of collectible cards; deck-building freedom: you can use any available card, not just those from your faction.
  • Heroes and artifacts: Heroes fight alongside creature armies and can equip artifacts that gain experience during matches, adding depth between games.
  • Mana: Innovative mana system based on gold generated from cards in hand, enabling fast-paced matches and continuous tactical choices.
  • Combat: Turn-based tactical combat focused on positioning, tempo, and hero synergies.

The design aims for a true TCG experience: in eligible regions, players can trade cards via an external marketplace powered by Immutable’s blockchain technology. Trading is optional and confers no in-game advantage.

Economy and token

Might and Magic: Fates is free-to-play and does not introduce a dedicated game token (e.g. no $FATES or similar in official sources). The in-game economy is centered on cards, heroes, and artifacts. Cards can be issued as NFTs on Immutable and, where available, traded on the external marketplace; ownership and trading are optional and do not affect competitive balance. There is no announced “play-to-earn” token model: value for players comes from gameplay, collection, and optional secondary trading of cards.

Market and NFTs

Cards can be issued as NFTs on the Immutable blockchain. Trading takes place through an external marketplace powered by Immutable’s technology, available in eligible regions. Ubisoft stresses that Web3 features provide no competitive advantage and are entirely optional: all players can compete at the highest level without using blockchain or NFTs.

To buy, sell, or trade card NFTs, check the official site and official links (Linktree, Discord) for marketplace access and region-specific conditions.

Play to Earn

Might and Magic: Fates does not promote a classic “play-to-earn” model with an in-game token. Victory is designed to be earned through talent and decisions, not spending. Economic value for players can come from optional trading of card NFTs (where available), on a voluntary basis with no impact on balance. No guaranteed ROI or structured earn is indicated, unlike some other Web3 titles.
