Calamity Awakening patch goes Live on 0.5.1
Tempest Labs shipped Calamity’s Awakening patch to Live as client v0.5.1 in late July 2026. Official Discord says clients and servers are updated, so download the latest launcher build before you log in. Awakening Dust already drops from sacrifices, but its utility is still deferred to a later patch.
Background
Calamity is a free-to-play 2D action MMORPG from Tempest Labs on Ronin. Class comes from the weapon you equip. Day-to-day play runs without a wallet; Dragon Rings sit beside the loop for cosmetics and optional buffs. The planned $WYRM token is not required for this patch.
Gear Awakening, the class skill rebalance, dungeon props, and economy changes first landed on the Public Test Server as v0.5.0. We covered those systems in Calamity Awakening patch on Public Test. This note is the Live status flip, not a second full systems dump.
What happened
Per the official Discord Live announcement and the player changelog for July 22–26, 2026 (opens in new tab):
- Clients and servers move to v0.5.1 (wiki frames the ship as 0.4.10 → 0.5.1)
- The same Jul 22–26 changelog remains the player-facing notes for Gear Awakening, combat cadence, dungeon props, and economy changes
- On Live, Awakening XP uses the full thresholds. The PTS ÷4 (25% of planned Live) tables were test-only
- Sacrifice still produces Awakening Dust (Ember Tier 1 / Radiant Tier 2). Discord restates that Dust utility is not available yet
Skill and Awakening feedback still goes through the Armory balance-review form (opens in new tab). In-client rules live under Menu → Compendium.
Who it affects
Players
Update the Calamity client to 0.5.1 before playing Live. Expect the new rotations, 300 ms global cooldown, and Awakening lines on keep gear. Do not awaken auction or trade pieces until you accept permanent soulbind: any Awakening XP above zero binds the item forever.
For sacrifice rules, specialization lines, and the full class/economy list, use the Public Test write-up and the wiki changelog (opens in new tab).
Collectors
Dragon Rings and other NFT / Artifact gear still cannot be sacrificed into Awakening. Awakened non-NFT gear stays untradeable. Dust’s future sink is undefined publicly, so do not price Dust utility from Live drops alone.

What to watch next
- Balance passes: skill numbers and Awakening thresholds may still move; use the balance-review form (opens in new tab)
- Awakening Dust utility: separate patch; do not plan sinks until that ships
- Official channels: Discord and PlayCalamity on X (opens in new tab) for hotfix notes
- Full systems notes: Jul 22–26 player changelog (opens in new tab) and the PTS article
Bottom line: Update to 0.5.1, learn Awakening on Live keep gear only, and leave auction pieces unawakened until Dust sinks and your soulbind choices are clear.
